I recently saw two of my newsletter subscribers take the exciting leap into entrepreneurship and start their own business. Seeing that made me very proud. Watching their progress made me wonder, how far along are you in your journey to build your own dream?
October is already here, but there’s still time to get your business off the ground. If procrastination has been slowing you down, I'd like to share 5 practical tips to help you move forward and finally make it happen.
1. Set a Launch Date and Work Backwards
Pick a date for your business launch and commit to it in writing. Using actual pen and paper to do this, registers it in your brain like making a mental contract with yourself. Break your plan into smaller milestones and track your progress. Make sure to celebrate those small wins along the way.
2. Share Your Plan with 2-3 Trusted People
Accountability is key. Share your launch plan and milestones with a few trusted individuals, and ask them to keep you on track. Why 2-3? In case one backs out, you’ll still have others to hold you accountable.
3. Open a Separate Bank Account for Your Business
Start saving now, no matter the amount. Set up a dedicated business account and commit to regular deposits, whether weekly or monthly. The growing balance will motivate you even more to make your business a reality.
4. Connect with Potential Customers
Invite five potential customers to lunch or even coffee. Use the opportunity to pitch your idea and ask for their honest feedback. This not only refines your concept but also builds a foundation for future relationships.
5. Get a Mentor
A mentor can save you time and energy by helping you avoid common mistakes. Find someone you admire who’s a few steps ahead of you. While I’d be honored to mentor you, there’s no sales pitch here. Just choose someone who resonates with you and learn from their experience.
By following these steps, you’ll break free from procrastination and gain the support and focus you need to finally launch your business, complete with some startup cash to invest wisely!
