Now what?

Dear Reader,

A few years ago, I found myself confronted with a quiet but unsettling question.

Now what?

It appeared in a season when what had once felt anchoring no longer held the same weight.

When life, structured around work, family, and responsibility, suddenly felt different.

Not broken, but no longer complete in the same way.

When both my children moved abroad, I was faced with a choice.

I could remain in the absence, or I could allow space for something new to take shape.

I chose to explore.

What began as a small, unfamiliar hobby slowly unfolded into Rozène.

Through hours of dedication, countless revisions, and continuous learning, something unexpected happened.

What was born from sadness gradually became a source of quiet joy.

What you see today is the result of that process.

Not a moment, but a rhythm.

Not a decision made once, but recommitted to again and again.

It reminded me of something simple, yet easy to forget:

we don’t need life to unravel before we recalibrate.

We don’t need loss to give ourselves permission to begin.

Instead of endlessly thinking about what we might do one day, there is power in taking one intentional step, and then another.

Building slowly.

Allowing direction to clarify through movement.

This year, I’ve chosen to move forward without waiting for certainty.

To refine as I go.

To trust that clarity follows commitment.

I wanted to share this with you quietly.

With intention,

Rozanne Portillo-Foendoe
